Nigerians to start paying N50 to the FG, each time they receive payments in their accounts

"Today, the FG through the CBN, imposed stamp duty of N50 on bank customers for money received into their accounts. Consequently, bank customers will henceforth pay N50 stamp duty for money received into their accounts via electronic transfer, cash and cheques. .

"This order was contained in a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under the Stamp Duties Act”. The CBN stated, “As part of efforts to boost its revenue base, the federal government of Nigeria is exploring revenue opportunities in the non-oil sectors especially taxes and rates. .

 "It is in recognition of this fact that banks and other financial institutions are enjoined to support government’s revenue drive through compliance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, LFN 2004 as reinforced by the court judgement in Suit No FHC/L/CS/1710/2013. In this regard, the CBN pursuant to the provisions of its enabling laws, hereby issues this circular to all DMBs other financial institutions:

 “With immediate effect, all DMBs and other financial institutions shall commence the charging of N50 per eligible transaction in accordance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act and Federal Government Financial Regulations 2009, that is, all receipts given by any bank or other financial institution in acknowledgment of services rendered in respect of electronic transfer and teller deposits from N1, 000 and above;

“For all avoidance of doubt the following receipts are however exempted from imposition of stamp duties: payments of deposits or transfer by self to self whether inter or intra bank; and any form of withdrawals/transfers from saving accounts; It should be noted that these charges are only payable by receiving accounts;

“Each DMB shall open an account designated as NIPOST Stamp Duties Account into which all charges collected shall be paid. The balances in such accounts shall be transferred monthly by the DMBs to CBN NIPOST Stamp Duty Collection Account No. 3000047517.

The victim sent in the mail last night. Here is her narrative: "I am a student of Leadcity Uni Ibadan; as I was coming from school this afternoon, I was hungry so I went to an eatery that's ( Mr Biggs Mobil, it's in Ibadan too ). I bought 2 meat pie n pet coke.

I sat there to eat it; after eating the first one n wanted to eat the second I saw a dead half cockroach in it. I showed them the pie; as I was showing the guys working there; a security guy named Bode who works there; he says y r u shouting it doesn't mean n it's normal during production.

"I have the Bode guys pic; he even said he's gon slap me if I say anything again. Pls I have the pic of the meat pie. Thanks. And the receipt which has today's date for you to b sure."

"I was rushed to general hospital marina street, d emergency actually. I was bleeding from the nose and mouth to my surprise all this so called doctors and nurses were running from me like I had some kinda of strange disease, I could hear in my pain one student doc telling the other don't touch her, while the rest were saying they had Lassa fever or whatever it's called not me) and he had to use 3 gloves each to check my blood pressure before he then said omg it's your blood pressure that's making you bleed.

It didn't end like this,I got to the hospital 8:pm n all this their rubbish continued till 10 pm. D annoying part was 3 hours later they started asking my mum all manner of stupid questions, which was suppose to be the first question before all this rubbish attitude. U guys won't also believe they asked my mum to go buy all manner of syringe, and many other things which one of it is that of a drip which they never gave me till now n they Inserted this shit on my hand for no reason at the pic I m posting, I woke up this morning only to be ignored by 5 doctors coming in and out of the ward, until I asked one what is going on here ,then he replied your files says you have been attended to,which i angrily said NO, Then he left and returned and said d nurse on duty wrote the rubbish. .

10 mins later 2 student doc came to check my blood pressure at about 8:40 and d story is it's a little bit still high, my question is what's wrong with our hospitals in Nigeria? Why do they not value lives? I didn't know that other patients family was watching d scene performed by this so called doctors towards me.

You can imagine it's 9:12am hhospital cleans wards by this time , likewise d rest rooms and bathroom. I'm so disappointed to be honest, I haven't been to the hospital in 15 yrs and this is d stupid treatment I get trusting general hospital is said to be the best place to go. I'm writing this in anger cos if I had died I probably might not be able to tell the story. We need help in our hospitals. No good bed spread. Fans are dirty. We need help."
